I am hoping to attend the BarCampOttawa un-conference in April. It is a place where a bunch of people meet up, and talk about the things they are good at. Some people that I am looking forward to hanging out with if they show up are Jonathan Snook, and James Cogan. Not to say others on the list are not equally deserving of people’s time and attention, but I just don’t recognize those names. I am currently Blogging oriented, and thus I have run into James before, and seen much of Jonathan’s work online.

If anyone else wants to come, that’d be super great (*cough*Pat and Nick*/cough*). This will be my first conference, and so hopefully it will be a great experience, as I have been really lacking connection with others in my field, or even the computer/technical world.

Some items on the proposed sessions include:

  • How about one on dealing with changing requirements but still delivering on time?
  • Could we see the Iotum demo that won the “Demo God” award this January?
  • How about a Voice 2.0 presentation / panel discussion?
  • How about beyond the cliche voice 2.0 to speculation on the future of personal/business communication as a decentralized federation of heterogeneous systems.
  • serendipity or hysteria- context, presence, relevance, tigers, oh my!
  • Blogging and Customer Relations
  • Aspect Oriented Programming (Jason Furlong)
  • CSS 3 (Vlad M.)

The ones with question marks are people asking for sessions, and the ones with names after them are the ones that are actually going to be talked about by people. Very cool stuff. As it gets closer, I can’t wait to see how it fills out and what others will bring to the table. I almost feel like I need to order some business cards before then.
