Post Imported from Phoenixrealm. I don’t need to redesign DavidCubed. I love my current design.
No, I have not done another redesign, so you don’t need to refresh your browsers to see it. I am wondering about a new redesign. I feel that one of the reasons my site has not been targetted by the big networks to join is partly because of my design here at Phoenixrealm. I am curious to know what it would cost me to have a new design created. So if you are the next Mike Rundle, or you actually are Mike Rundle, what would a blog design and development for WordPress set me back? One hundred US dollars? Two hundred? Or are we talking a thousand or more?
I look at many of the sites listed in the 9rules network, and one thing that stands out is not only the content but the designs of 99% of the sites are very visually appealing, and that cannot be a coincidence. So if you read this, let me know what it would set me back. You can see the limit of my abilities just by looking at my current design, so if you can do better, comment on this post with a link to a portfolio, or put your contact information in the comment form and just ask me to contact you for more information. I will not share your e-mail address with anyone, and it will only be seen by me in the admin panel, thus not harvested by any spam bots.
Let me know, as I am very interested in making Phoenixrealm, more visually appealing.

I’ve gotten many quotes. A good design would be $500-$1000

Wow, that’s quite a bit of money. Is that for the design as well as the coding or just for a great photoshop file I can convert into a WordPress theme?

I’m not the best designer in the world. But if you want a hand in making a design I can help with CSS or perhaps make an image you can easilly cut up for a theme.
You know where to reach me if you do ![]()

Thanks Griffith, but I might know a designer that could give me a hand. I might need some serious help coding it though…
So much to do… So little money.

Hmm, I think the price totally depends on the designer. I’m sure you could find a good designer on the cheap for under $1k. For simple weblog projects, my estimates normally start around $2k and move up from there (Photoshop mockups, XHTML and CSS templates) but that’s just me. I know lots of designers who are cheaper than me, and some others who are way more expensive, so it all depends on how to price the *value* of your design work and not the *cost*.

Oh, and that’s not including the WP theme generation cost, but just XHTML/CSS prototype templates.

Thanks Mike, that seems to be the consensus among certain people.
I guess I will grab a struggling young graphic designer with some skill, and then get someone to code it into XHTML and CSS, and I will change it into a WP Theme. ![]()
