Thanks Mike, that seems to be the consensus among certain people.

I guess I will grab a struggling young graphic designer with some skill, and then get someone to code it into XHTML and CSS, and I will change it into a WP Theme.

Hmm, I think the price totally depends on the designer. I’m sure you could find a good designer on the cheap for under $1k. For simple weblog projects, my estimates normally start around $2k and move up from there (Photoshop mockups, XHTML and CSS templates) but that’s just me. I know lots of designers who are cheaper than me, and some others who are way more expensive, so it all depends on how to price the *value* of your design work and not the *cost*.
