I just wanted to write a blog in here on how Blogging is beginning to be viewed by a group of people. I have to admit that I have perpetuated this myth a bit by highlighting all the positives of blogging, and the people doing well.
The reality of blogging is very different though. To be a professional Blogger it requires long hours, a constant ability to read from various sources and assess the information as quickly as possible. A long period of time, as usually no one post will thrust you into Blog Stardom. It usually takes years to get the the professional level.
Also, even when you attain that professional status it may not create much of a payday for you and no matter what, you can’t just rest on your laurels and rake in the money every month. Blogging requires new content consistently.
Don’t just jump into blogging for the money you hope to make, or 99% of the time, you will fail miserably.
After blogging for around two years now, I can tell you that trying to move to the professional level is very difficult, especially if you don’t have a lot of capital to sink into buying established sites. Currently, I my highest single day from Google’s Adsense program is $3. If I could make that consistantly every day, that would only be $90 a month, or what most full time people make in one day.

Ya. Blogging is definitly a kind of thing that unless you are getting paid to do it from the get go (ie. cnn newsblog crap or something), you have to start off doing it as a passion for the medium.
So is podcasting. The guys that jump on the bandwagon will not care, and fail miserably. People like our host here care enough to do it when it isn’t a full time job.
