The folks over at Penny Arcade, a web comic I love to read, created and manage a charity called the Child’s Play Charity where they raise money and donations for various hospitals around the world. A way for gamers to do something good in the world, so we can beat some of the “sitting in the basement planning the murders of millions” thoughts that most of the general public seems to have.

This year, they managed to bring in over one million dollars in donations and products from gamers all over the world. They raised a staggering $1,024,400.31 USD this year. This was the fourth year of the charity, and hopefully next year will be even bigger with more hospitals reaping the benefits.
