So I guess a few people might be interested in how my Christmas went. So here goes…

Going To Kingston
My cousin Mark came down to pick Sabine and I up. He drove all the way from Kingston on Friday, the 23rd. He and I hung out and did a bit of this and that. He stayed the night and the next morning we all left to head to Kingston. Sabine and I woke up before the sun was even up to begin getting ready to leave. We had barely packed or anything, so we had a lot to do.

Once we hit the road, I played a bit on Mark’s laptop with his new GPS dongle that allowed me to track where we were as we travelled. It in concert with Microsoft Streets and Trips told us where gas stations were among other things. Very cool and decently useful.

The trip felt a little long, though it was no longer than any other drive to Kingston. Sabine rested a bit in the back as we did not get much sleep.

Once in Kingston, we visited with my Grandma. It was nice to see her and we stayed the night. Mark slept at my Aunt Nancy’s place, and Sabine and I got to sleep in Mark’s room at my Grandma’s apartment.

Christmas Day
On Christmas morning we all woke up early as we needed to be at my Aunt’s for 7:30 a.m. to open presents and all that jazz. When we got there it looked like no one was up, but as we entered Kyle, my cousin, came rushing down the stairs followed by most everyone else.

Sabine and I went to our stockings and unloaded them. We had to borrow the stockings from my Grandma, as we did not even think to bring ours. After the stockings were opened, we opened presents. There were not many for Sabine and I, which was exactly what we had hoped as we had not gotten anyone much of anything.

It was a really nice morning. My aunt worked really hard to pull everything together, and did an amazing job. Sabine and I both feel she should have gotten more thanks for everything she did to make the morning great.

After the presents were opened, my aunt Nancy made sure that everyone had something to eat, preparing bacon, and all sorts of goodies for eating. She even made biscuits, which is something I love to eat. Everything turned out great.

Afterwards, I challenged just about everyone to a Star Wars game on the PlayStation 2, and lost almost all the time. Mark took pity on me and we played some co-op games to destroy droids, which I did much better at. Even Sabine sat down a few times to kick my butt on a versus game. How sad that I could not even beat her with all the Jedi powers I could muster.

My brother, mother, Amber, and Riley all came around one in the afternoon and we opened their presents and they opened ours, which took a lot less time than the first round of present opening.

Then before going over to the Sproule families house for supper, Sabine, Mark and I jumped back over to my Grandma’s under the pretext of Sabine needing to change for dinner, but it was really primarily for me to bake another batch of cookies to bring to the dinner as they had asked that everyone bring a little something for the supper to make it easier to prepare. Sabine and I brought chocolate chip and chocolate chunk cookies which were disappearing almost right after they were baked.

The supper was really great, and there was food for everyone. The Sproule’s even had a stocking made up for everyone, which was above and beyond what they needed to do, especially since Sabine, Amber, Dan, Riley, and I are all not really family.

Hotel Stay
After the dinner Sabine and I got our big present from my mom. We got to stay at the Sheraton in downtown Kingston. What a rich feeling I get when I get to go to a hotel like that. We stayed in room 907. The top floor, with a view of City Hall, the water, and the skating rink. It was very beautiful. We got to stay in a king size bed, and staying at the hotel made me feel like a King. Sabine and I took a round in the hot tub, and that totally killed us off. We were tired, and went back to our room to relax. Sabine invited her friend Julie over and Sabine and her talked and talked. I watched television, only chiming in on the conversation when I had something useful to say. After she left, Sabine and I slept.

Leaving Kingston
The next day we got up at almost ten in the morning. I called up my cousin to see what he wanted to do in regards to Boxing Day shopping. He only wanted to go to Kingston Computer Planet, and said it would take him around half an hour to get ready and be at the hotel. Sabine and I took our time getting ready. Sabine had a coffee, and I enjoyed the view.

After a little while we went downstairs to check out, and there was Mark waiting. We jumped in the car and went over to KCP, where there was already a line of eager computer geeks waiting for their chance at getting a good deal.

When Kingston Computer Planet opened their doors, Sabine, Mark and I were pretty much first in the door. Mark went right into the back corner to check out keyboards and routers, as he wanted to get the G15 keyboard from Logitech, and a nice wireless router. Not having either of those things we began to look around, and Sabine almost convinced me to buy something I have been wanting for a while: an LCD monitor. I did not give in though, knowing that I was already far enough in debt.

We left there and went back to my Aunt Nan’s place. We said goodbye and thanked them again for everything. Mark picked up some gifts that people got for his girlfriend, and we left.

Heading home was pretty uneventful. No laptop to keep me busy, we tried to make conversation, but it was pretty boring. The best part was when we got to near Mark’s girlfriend’s place. Sabine saw many houses she’d like to own. All in the quarter million and higher range by the looks of them.

It was a good Christmas none the less and turned out better than I could have hoped. I owe Mark another big thanks, as well as my grandma, and my aunt Nancy, and of course my Mom for putting us up in the hotel. Kudos to my family, all around.
