I admit it, I have never been great with small details, and I am quickly learning that the new secret project I am taking on with Bloggy Network is all about the details, and unfortunately all the details take time. I was hoping to have launched the project already, but Ahmed, my boss, wants to make sure all the ducks are in a row.
We are going to be doing some cross promotion between this project and another one, and so he wants everything to be perfect. I am more of an evolutionary guy. Launch something, and fix it as I go, but I think spending the extra few days making things perfect is going to give the project a better launch. Many of the other people involved are also very excited. Some wish we had already launched, not understanding the great undertaking that such projects are. It is more than just set something up, and let it run. Things like making sure a contact form works, RSS feeds work as we’d like, and the list goes on and on.
I have to say though, that I am really enjoying being on the ground level of something new in our company, and hope that this is just the start of something even bigger.
Lastly, if there is one thing my job is great for, it is expanding my talents, and realizing my shortcomings.

Fun ain’t it?
This isn’t about perfection - if we were after that, the list would be 5x as long
It is about the little usability tweaks. For example, the url structure - much more of an annoyance to chance once live.
Anyway - yeah - details are fun, and take and soak up time you never knew they could. But it is the details that let you come out ahead ![]()
