Thanks, I got a socket A mobo, but unfortunately, it wasn't just the motherboard, and now I just need a stick of RAM, and the old beast will be back to its old self.

Thanks to everyone for their support. :)

Wow, that's awfully nice of you Justin :)

I'm glad things are looking up for your old computer again David. Looks like you'll still be able to get a few years kicked out of it.

Mark - That'd be of great help, but I wouldn't want to take away from your eventual server machine... What would I owe you to get you to send that down?

Joram - That is one of the first questions I get all the time. There are two sticks in there of 512mb. I tried it with one and then with the other, only to get the same beep code.

I looked at ebay, but people want a pretty penny to send out old computer parts on there it seems... at least motherboards.

I went on a few computer websites, and deal sites like RedFlagDeals.com and a guy there is sending me a board but he is not sure if it works or not. He just charged me shipping, so that's nice. Hopefully it works. I am also looking to grab a stick or two of DDR ram to test out that theory. If both of my sticks are bad, I am going to be some pissed.

Justin - Man, that Sempron... its a 754 isn't it? It'd still be nice to get it up and running. I'd even throw a celeron in there just to get it back up...lol. Let me know what it'd set me back. E-mailed you about TBJ.

David,

I have a shitload of barebones available. I will ship one to you. Let me get a few out, I have Sempron 64bit 2800+ and Celeron 2.8Ds. I think I have a few PentiumD and 2.8GHZ HTT systems available too. Been a while since I checked.

It will have CPU, MOBO + MEMORY (1gb typically)

Email me, still waiting on that zip....

How many RAM-modules are in that PC? You might try to try and turn the PC on while removing one of them. Perhaps only one of the RAM-modules is broken, which might be the reason of a failing PC :)

Have you tried Ebay by any chance? I don't know any store that might sell the Socket-A motherboards other then a secondhand somewhere.... although I have a feeling that there are enough enthousiasts reading your blog :D

I still have my old Mobo and CPU... If you want them, you can have them.

My old one is an AMD 2500+ Mobile Barton.
