A friend of mine recently contacted me about being nervous in submitting his site to 9rules. He did not want to submit his site because he was nervous that the quality of his design and the consistency of his posts were not up to 9rules quality.
He and I talked for a bit and the general consensus was that if he submitted his site to 9rules and got in, he could learn lots from its members as well as from their private forum.
I also mentioned that it does not hurt to apply as there is a great deal of competition due to getting hundreds, if not thousands of entries this round.
Lastly, I mentioned that if he got into 9rules and then really did not feel he was deserving of being part of it after a few months, he could always bow out until he felt more ready to be part of such a community.
Being a perfectionist should never stop you from throwing your name in the hat to be part of a community, or organization.
And 9rules is not an organization where you have to be the elite to get in. There are many blogs that have good personality and are fun to read from time to time, that I had not heard of before they became 9rules members.

I was in the same boat as your friend. I was quite nervous about submitting because I felt that my site would never have a chance of being accepted. But, I submitted anyway.
By the way, Marco: I’m getting a 404 when I try to go to your site.

Thanks for commenting. I went ahead and fixed Marco’s link. It’s .com now, and not .net… that crazy guy.

Can you specify a bit more on the benefits of being a member in 9rules?

Yeah you can be a total goofball like me and still get into 9rules.
Hey I’ve heard about you from Griffith, one of my reader, I think I remember you from phoenix realms back when I was reading Dizzy Island.
Hey how’s it going Allen. Sure the short answer is that 9rules gives you a link and some exposure but it also puts your site next to some pretty big name sites.
I also like the community aspect of 9rules. (as cheesy as that sounds) Before I was accepted into the network I was a bit skeptical about this but the network’s got some awesome people to interact with; Tyme, Scrivs, Colin and Mike are all really great people and it’s great to be a part of that.

Thanks for stopping by Michael. Yeah, I helped Dizzy Island with her computer woes.
I think you are right about the benefits of the network though. Interacting with Scrivs, Colin, Mike and Tyme a well as other 9rules members would be pretty sweet. Many of my favourite sites are part of the network, and its pretty nice as an ego boost even just to see your name next to other sites you like.
BTW…I am still not a 9rules member…lol.

Hard work usually gets the “highest grades”, online or off ; )
