Read all the fun and stress of our looking at buying a home on Part One.

Well, we have sat down and signed some papers, putting in two conditions, the first being lawyer approval, and the second being financing. We are not one hundred percent sure we will get the financing we need to get the house as of yet. Not only that, but we brought the paperwork to the lawyer, and he said “nope, changes need to be made.” So we had to go back and get them to redraw up the paperwork. Hopefully, we can get it all signed and submitted to the mortgage broker before we go on our short trip to Ottawa.

Its pretty stressful dealing with this house stuff. The lawyer we talked to pointed out a few things, and we didn’t have any answers. Sabine mentioned she felt embarrassed but the lawyer said that we shouldn’t as we have never bought a house before. He is just trying to help us make the most of it.

We really just felt pressured to sign papers and move on, and that the builders will do their job well and not cheap out on every area of the house. We also assumed that certain things would be taken care of, but our lawyer reminded us that if it isn’t in writing, that it doesn’t have to be taken care of.

What a minefield we are in. At least it feels that way sometimes.
